"Kate's paintings are not realistic in a photographic sense but are deeply expressive and atmospheric through meticulous observation of her subjects"
Fanny Charles, Blackmore Vale Magazine

The painter Kate Lynch began exhibiting her work in 1985 - primitive images of the mother and child. Over the next ten years, she became established with her low-key, atmospheric landscapes and expressive pastels.

More recently she has become interested in the people who work in the landscape of the Somerset Levels - the traditional farmers and craftsmen involved with apples and cider, peat and, especially, willow.

Kate has a degree in the History of Art, Post Graduate Teaching Certificate & Art Teacher's Diploma, and Post-Graduate Fine Art Diploma.

She is a qualified art teacher who has mixed her professional life as a painter with educational work in schools and community art projects with all age groups and abilities.
