Kate has become known for her rural documentary projects, where she places importance on the interviews with her subjects, the words accompanying the paintings and drawings in exhibitions and her books.
She has published illustrated books on willow growers and basket makers, shepherds, beekeepers and farmers.

Her current project is ‘Old Crafts in Somerset’ with paintings and drawings of hedgelayers, dry stone wallers, thatchers, blacksmiths, farriers, basketmaker, glass blower, ropemaker, and others, all working by hand, using ancient knowledge going back hundreds of years. She is also collecting their stories. The exhibition of this new collection will take place at the Somerset Rural Life Museum in the Autumn of 2021.
