Teaching & Talks

Kate gives illustrated talks on her documentary projects. Please get in touch if you are interested.

Craft - she tells stories from the thirty traditional craftspeople in Somerset she has met and illustrates it with her charcoal drawings and paintings. The hard back full colour book is also available.

Farm - she tells stories she collected from many small farms in Somerset in which the farmers talk about the history of their farm, their work, and how they have adapted to life today.

She brings copies of her book.

Kate will also do charcoal drawing demonstrations and run expressive charcoal drawing workshops for groups. Please get in touch to discuss.

Over the years Kate has run many community art projects and these are a few of them. 

2017 Abbey Farm, Glastonbury c1947

A collaborative painting by pupils from Elmhurst Junior School with Kate Lynch. The painting depicts Abbey Farm (site of the Rural Life Museum)
as it was in about 1947 with its herd of Ayrshire milking cows, steam threshing, working horses, dolly tub and mangle on washday, and many other factual details as described by Margaret Shreeve (nee Mapstone) who lived on the farm.
The painting is on permanent display in the Rural Life Museum, Glastonbury.

 

Frome Tree of Life 2008

This was a commission from Frome Hospital. Co-ordinated by Kate Lynch and painted by over 200 adults and children. On permanent display in Frome Hospital.

Warminster, Wiltshire  

Commissioned community painting. On permanent display in Warminster Library. Painted by pupils in all nine Warminster schools and with community participation on Saturday mornings. Over 400 participants.

Heart of Frome 1996

Painted by over 150 contributors of all ages, on permanent display in Frome Library.
